A view from the Emporium...

"Dreaming of tramlines, factories, pieces of machinery, mine shafts, things like that" ... David Bowie

This is the view of the elevator room on the rooftop of the "Emporium" in downtown Liverpool. It's an old Oatis of course like so many that adorn our abandoned buildings downtown. The car was the best I have ever seen but could not slide the glass door open. This is what I love to do. See things that no one has seen in decades. These machines are so dangerous by today's laws and standards but are so rare to see in an undisturbed state. Love this city...

  1. Wonderful post as usual!

Did you see anything of the pneumatic capsule transport that was used for purchase transactions, to send change back to cashiers?

  2. No I did not. I have heard about these in that particular building. Keep in mind that the electric was off in the building and there were very few windows. We used flashlights to find our way around. Also things could have been buried behind newer walls as well.
