Hancock Hangover Ride

Every year for  the last 12 years a loose affiliation of people that love mountain biking meet on New Years Day to ride the trails at Tomlinson Run State Park in West Virginia. It has never been a well advertised ride but more or less just word of mouth. Many locals from around the tri state area meet and do their thing. I personally have been riding this ride for the past 4 years or so and I can tell you that it is a come as you are go at your own pace type of ride. It's not a race or a competition just a really good time to enjoy the woods in West Virginia.

This year a local foundation teamed up with the locals to raise funds to buy a bike for a child who does not have one. Team Mojo Foundation created and directed by Bill Crawford and a board made up of local like minded souls is hands down one of the best things that has ever happened to our tri state area. The work that this group has done for local children is just simply wonderful. I can't say enough about this group of people and the many volunteers that they have. This year all of the riders participating in the ride made a donation to Team Mojo to raise funds to buy a bike for a child that needs one. Being involved in mountain biking for the last 16 years I can tell you how important it is to introduce a younger generation to this sport. Bikes at any age level represent a freedom that is just irreplaceable. Over fifteen riders participated today. It was a beautiful day full of sun but very very cold. Riders rode a total of around 13 miles or so on the many trails available at Tomlinson Run State Park.

Even if you don't ride I urge you to donate to the Team Mojo Foundation. Earmark it for "Hancock Hangover Ride" or what ever you want to give. Again you won't be disappointed with the work these people do. "Click" on success stories on their page. Simply amazing. Here is the link:
